On August 7, 1997, Legendary University of Alabama Football Coach Bear Bryant was honored with a second stamp. The first stamp was issued in a set of four stamps honoring Bear Bryant along with Vince Lombardi, George Halas and Pop Warner.A sheet of these stamps have all four coaches in blocks of four on it; they were issued the first day of issue from Canton, Ohio on July 25, 1997. A month later, all four stamps were issued individually. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover with the Bryant stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Tuscaloosa, Alabama) on the first day of issue captioned above. To tell the two stamps apart, the addition of a red line above the coach's name indicates it is the individual stamp issued in August.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) shows Bryant being carried by his players. The company that produced this cover has also written a short commentary about "Bear." We have included a copy for you. Paired with this cover is a full-color art print rendered in watercolors of Bear Bryant. It's a perfect combination!
Matted in Bama red (of course), it's sized to fit a standard 11 X 14 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
