On September 7, 1984, the USPS issued a set of four stamps celebrating Eight Dog Breeds, seven of them American (can you guess which one isn't?) The Breeds are the Beagle, Boston Terrier, Chesapeake Bay Retriever, Cocker Spaniel, Alaskan Malamute, Collie, Black & Tan Coonhound and American Foxhound. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover with all four stamps cancelled from the city of issue (New York City) on the first day of issue captioned above.

The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features two dogs not shown on the stamps, but are, nevertheless, popular dogs in America....the Bassett Hound, tracker extraordinaire, and the American Water Spaniel, developped after the Civil War as an all-around hunting dog. The producer of this cover has also written a short commentary about each dog.  We have included a copy for you. This cover has all the bells and whistles...all four stamps in the series cancelled on the first day of issue, a great cachet, and a commentary. It should make any dog lover, well...drool.

Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame.  *** Certificate of Authenticity Included***
