On November 28, 1988, the island of Grenada issued a set of three stamps commemorating baseball players for each U.S. team in existence. The one exception was the Yankees; they got four stamps. When deciding which players would get stamps, Grenada was not restricted by the "10 Year Rule" of the U.S.....this rule requires a person to be dead at least 10 years before their face may appear on a stamp, the exception being a president (they will get a stamp within a year of their death.)
Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover for the Giants, an envelope with the three stamps for players Mel Ott, Jeffrey Leonard, and Willie Mays cancelled from the place of issue (the island of Grenada) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a beautiful full-color rendering of Candlestick Park as it existed in 1988. Collectible, historic, this is a must-have piece of Giants memorabilia for the Giants fan.
MATTED IN Black, THIS PIECE IS SIZED TO FIT A STANDARD 8 X 10 FRAME. REMEMBER THAT WALL ART COLLECTIBLES ALWAYS MATS TO A STANDARD FRAME SIZE TO GIVE YOU THE FLEXIBILITY OF SELECTING YOUR OWN FRAME. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
