THE CURSE OF THE BAMBINO .....laid to rest, yes - forgotten, no. And here it is, BABE RUTH as a RED SOX, that started it all! This piece speaks of greatness and destiny...a MUST for the Yankee, and now, the Red Sox fan alike.
The 3 stamps are very historical: FENWAY PARK issued in 2001; the Centennial of Professional Baseball from 1969; and, the Bambino himself issued in 1983 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the All Star Game. And while we're at it, let's throw another city into the mix...Chicago. The 1st All Star Game was played in 1933 at Comiskey Park and Babe Ruth was there. In 1983, 50 years later, Comiskey again hosted the All Star Game, Chicago becoming the City of Issue for the Babe Ruth Stamp. Note of Interest: Attendance at Yankee Stadium jumped from 3 million to 6 million the year Babe Ruth was acquired. A great investment, right, George?
Matted in blue, it's sized to fit a standard 11x14 frame.
