On February 28, 1952, the USPS issued a stamp to commemorate the 125th Anniversary of the B&O Railroad.  Shown here is an envelope with the stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Baltimore) on the first day of issue captioned above. In the 1950's the cover collector was responsible for sending the envelope to the city of issue to get the new stamp put on and cancelled on the first day.  Naturally, the envelope had to go back.  If the collector did not supply a return envelope, it was addressed back to the sender.  The 'smart' people with an eye to the future used pencil so the address could be erased.  This is such an envelope; if you zoom in, you'll see a faint address.  This will never show in a frame, behind glass on your wall.  It's just part of the history of a First Day Cover.

This cover features a great cachet (artwork on the envelope) and is a collectible, historic piece of railroad and postal memorabilia.  It's a great cover paying homage to a great railroad.

Double matted in green & white, this piece will fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame.  ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
