In 1992 and 1994, the company of Fleetwood produced a set of Commemorative Covers celebrating U.S. Military Aircraft. Shown here is the one for the B-29 Superfortress, the plane that dropped the two atomic bombs on Japan bringing about their ultimate surrender.
On a commemorative cover, the stamp is immaterial; it's only there because the Post Office will not cancel unless there is current postage. The cancellation shows the stamp cancelled from Renton, Washington, September 21, 1994. The cachet (artwork on the envelope) shows a dramatic picture of the B-29 dropping the bomb on Japan.
Matted in blue, this piece is sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. A short blurb on the B-29 is included.
