On September 1, 1994, the USPS issued a set of five stamps to honor five Popular Singers.... Al Jolson, Bing Crosby, Ethel Waters, Nat King Cole, and Ethel Merman. For decades, these five singers thrilled their fans on Broadway, radio, television, records, and films. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the stamp for Bing Crosby cancelled from the city of issue (New York, NY), on the first day of issue captioned above.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) depicts Crosby in tophat. Known for being the quintessential crooner, he starred in numerous movies and will forever be identified with the most popular Christmas Carol of all time...White Christmas. The company that produced this cover has written a commentary about this Legend of American Music, which we've included.
Historic, collectible, this is a great piece of music and postal memorabilia. It's double matted in blue & white, and sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity plus Commentary Included***
