Bette Davis....
On September 18, 2008, the USPS issued a stamp to honor one of the best actresses to ever grace the silver screen - Bette Davis.
The first actress to receive ten academy award nominations, as well as
the first woman to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award from the
American Film Institute. She is rated by the American Film Institute as
the greatest female screen star of all time, just behind Katherine
Hepburn. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Boston, MA - Davis was born in Lowell, MA) on the first day of issue
captioned above. Note the special postmark, featuring her signature,
created for the cancellation of this stamp on its 'birthday.'
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) shows a portrait of Davis printed on silk and surrounded by an embossed gold border.
Double matted in green & white, this item is sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
