On September 24, 1982, the United Nations issued a stamp honoring the country of Belgium with a stamp depicting the National Flag of Belgium. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (United Nations, New York) on the first day of issue captioned above. Note the special cancellation designed to cancel this stamp on its 'birthday.'
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) celebrates the many facets of Belgium - from the World Headquarters of NATO and The Common Market to the diamond industry in Antwerp to the Flemish painters to the battlefields of the World Wars. The company that produced this cover has also included a brief commentary about Belgium, which we've included.
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8x10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity plus Commentary Included***
