Beetle Bailey....
On July 16, 2010, the USPS issued a set of five different stamps commemorating the Sunday Funnies. The five honored comic strips are Archie, Dennis the Menace, Calvin and Hobbes, Garfield, and Beetle Bailey.
Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the stamp for Beetle Bailey, depicting everyone's favorite private and his comic foil Sergeant Snorkel, cancelled from the city of issue (Columbus, Ohio), on the first day of issue captioned above. Note the special postmark designed and used to cancel this stamp on its 'birthday.'
The color cachet
(artwork on the envelope produced by a private company, not the post
office) features a close-up of Beetle Bailey reading the paper, with
scenes from the comic strip in the background. The picture is printed
on silk with a gold embossed border. Historic and collectible, you'll love this piece of Americana.
Double matted in black & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8x10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
