On June 13, 1987, the USPS issued 50 stamps to celebrate American Wildlife. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover for the Barn Swallow with the stamp cancelled from the city of issue (the USPS Station at the Canadian Stamp Show in Toronto) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a pair of beautifully plumaged Barn Swallows. Whether in the barn, under a bridge, or underpass, Barn Swallows have adapted to man and the structures he builds. When feeding on insects, they are a fluury of motion. If you're lucky, one will stop long enough for you to admire its lovely palette of colors.
Double Matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
