On December 30, 1980, the USPS issued a stamp to honor the first American woman to fly solo, Blanche Stuart Scott. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, in this case a proof card with Scott's stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Hammondsport, N.Y.) on the first day of issue (captioned above.)

The cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a full-color portrait of Scott, the "Tomboy of the Air" known for her daredevil stunts as a barnstormer. Collectible, historic, this is a great piece of aviation memorabilia celebrating the woman who paved the way for women in aviation.

Matted in blue, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. *** Certificate of Authenticity Included as well as a short bio  of Blanche Stuart Scott***
