On March 29, 1979, the USPS issued a stamp to honor aviation pioneer and aeronautics engineer, Octave Chanute.  Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Chanute, Kansas) on the first day of issue (captioned above.)

The full-color 'silk' cachet (artwork on the envelope) features Chanute in his stable biplane hang glider.  Imparting valuable advice and assistance to the Wright Brothers, Chanute will be remembered for his contributions to early aviation.

Double matted in blue and marroon, this piece is matted to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame.  ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
