Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.....
On March 15, 2007, the USPS honored one of America's greatest and beloved poets - Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the full-color stamp, depicting a close-up portrait of Longfellow with The Old North Church and Paul Revere in the background to symbolize his famous American classic "Paul Revere's Ride", cancelled from the city of issue (New York, NY) on the first day of issue captioned above. Note the special postmark created to cancel this stamp on its 'birthday' - a penned 'Longfellow' signature!
The color cachet again depicts a portrait of Longfellow, this time in front of his ancestral home in Portland, Maine. It's printed on silk, the luster lending an almost three-dimensional look to the picture.
Historic, collectible, it's double matted in blue & white and will fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
