On February 3, 1998, the USPS issued a stamp depicting the painting 'Stag at Sharkey's' by George Bellows to commemorate an important art movement spearheaded by eight artists called the "Ash Can Painters because of their realistic often blighted views of city life.  This event was one of fifteen chosen to represent the first decade of the 20th century. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Washington DC) on the first day of issue captioned above.

The cachet (artwork on the envelope) features Bellows who later joined the "eight'.  This is a historic, collectible piece of art memorabilia.

It's double matted in  blue & white and will fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame.  ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
