On June 27, 2002, the USPS honored John James Audubon with a stamp. His Birds of America featuring 435 life-sized colored engravings made from watercolors was first published in England when no American company would publish his work! Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Santa Clara, Ca.) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a full-color portrait of Audubon framed by a blue heron printed on silk. Historic, collectible, this is a very personal gift for anyone who loves and appreciates birds and the art of John James Audubon.
It's double matted in blue & white and will fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
