On November 2, 1967, the USPS honored Thomas Eakins with a stamp. Unappreciated during his lifetime, his paintings and portraits were deemed "too real." Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Washington, DC) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a black & white drawing of his painting, 'The Biglin Brothers Racing', also shown in color on the stamp. Historic, collectible, this is a very personal gift for anyone who loves and appreciates the art of Thomas Eakins.
It's double matted in green & white and will fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
