Let us preface this description by saying...if you get only one Space Cover, get this one! We think every American should own one...it commemorates one of the biggest events in our lifetime.  That said, on September 9, 1969, the USPS issued a 10 cents airmail stamp to commemorate the Apollo 11 Moon Landing on July 20, 1969. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Washington DC) on the first day of issue captioned above. Now, if you look closely, you'll see another cancellation, July 20, 1969 with the "city of issue" of Moon Landing, USA. Every First Day Cover for this stamp has this dual cancellation; more important, it is the only time the US Post Office has been allowed to put on a "back cancellation!" The July 20th date in 1969 was so important, we wanted it "frozen" in time.

The black & white cachet (artwork on the envelope) features all three astronauts, Neil Armstrong, Edwin Aldrin, Jr. and Michael Collins against the backdrop of the landing module gracefully touching down on the moon's surface.

Double matted in blue & white, this piece will fit a standard 8 X 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
