Anthony H.G. Fokker designed and built his first aircaft just two years after seeing his first airplane in 1910. By the end of 1912, he was running a successful flying school. During WWI, he designed and produced sixty different aircraft. In 1924, he came to the U.S. and established the Fokker Aircraft Corp., turning out transporters (the F-I,F-II, and FIII) for the newly burgeoning air passenger industry. Shown here is a Commemorative Cover to celebrate this pioneer of aviation.
On a commemorative cover, the stamp is immaterial; it's only there because the Post Office will not cancel unless there is current postage. The postmark is from Java, Fokker's birthplace, on April 6, 1981, the anniversary of his birth.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a portrait of Anthony Fokker and one of his passenger planes. The producer of this cover has written a short commentary about Fokker, which we, in turn, have included.
Matted in blue, this piece is sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included plus Commentary Included***
