Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover commemorating the American Kestral. It's an envelope with the new stamp cancelled on the first day (January 20, 1996) from the city of issue (New York City). The reason the cardinal stamp is on is that the two kestral stamps do not add up to current postage.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features this beautifully plumaged member of the falcon family. This is a collectible, historic piece of postal and wildlife memorabilia.
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included plus a short commentary on the American Kestral***
