American Clock SIMON WILLARD BANJO CLOCK 1st Day Postal Cover....

On January 24, 2003, the USPS issued a stamp to commemorate the American Clock, specifically the "banjo clock" developed in 1801 by Simon Willard. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Tuscon, AZ) on the first day of issue captioned above.

The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a close-up of the Willard clock face as well as an inset of the distinctive Willard 'Banjo Clock' topped with a gold American eagle.  The company that produced this cover has also written a brief commentary of the history of the American Clock.  A copy has been included.

Double matted in green & white, this piece is sized to fit a standard 8 X 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity plus Commentary Included***
