On July 6, 1990, the USPS issued a set of five stamps honoring Five Great Athletes who all won Olympic Gold in six different events (Eddie Eagan son gold for bobsledding and boxing - the only person to win gold in both the winter and summer games!) Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with all five stamps cancelled from the city of issue (Minneapolis, MN) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The black & white cachet (artwork on the envelope) features each athlete in his sport. If you love Olympic Sports, you'll love this cover honoring these five great athletes: Hazel Wightman for Tennis in 1924, Eddie Eagan for Bobsledding and Boxing in 1920 and 1932, Helene Madison for Swimming in 1932, Jesse Owens for four different Running events in 1936, and Ray Ewry for the Standing High Jump in 1900, 1904, and 1908.
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included ***
