AMBULANCE Paramedic EMT 1st Day of Issue Postal Cover.... On June 21, 1985, the USPS issued a stamp for the Ambulance, part of its transportation series. Shown here is a genuine 1st Day of Issue Postal Cover in the form of a Maximum Card.
Made of heavy card stock, the name 'maximum' refers to maximum
artwork. Even the usual words 'First Day of Issue' are not printed on
the front so as not to interfere with the picture...just the stamp and
cancellation mark are added. The stamp, depicting an Ambulance from the
1860's, is cancelled from the city of issue (Reno, NV) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The cachet
(artwork on the card) features a horse drawn ambulance on a city street
ready to pick up a man on a litter. The company that produced this
cover has also written a brief commentary about the history of the
ambulance, as well as the words "First Day of Issue: June 21, 1985 and
First Issue Location: Reno, NV."
Double matted in green and white, this piece is sized to fit a standard 8 X 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity plus Commentary Included*** |
