On January 20, 1982, the Australia Post issued a stamp to commemorate Australia Day 1982 and the three great waves of migration to Australia: the Aboriginals over 30,000 years ago; the founding of the penal colony in 1788 ushering in the second great wave, this time European migration; and, third, the recent wave occurring after WWII when people from over 100 countries settled in Australia. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Bondi Junction) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a representative from each great migration wave. The producer of this cover has written a brief commentary on this event. We have included a copy for you.
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
