Angelfish of the Reef.....
On September 10, 2003, Samoa issued four large full-colored stamps celebrating four different Angelfish of the Reef. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with all four stamps cancelled from the city of issue (Apia Samoa) on the first day of issue captioned above. From cobalt blue to neon orange and radiant yellows, these showy tropical fish never fail to delight us with their myriad color variations. Note the clever 'Angelfish' postmark designed for the express purpose of cancelling these stamps on their 'birthday.'
The cachet (artwork on the envelope) features the coral-colored Centropyge loriculus - depicted also on the stamp second on the left. The gradation of deep blue to turquoise, then aqua, and finally a pale green on top forms the perfect 'tropical water' background for the cachet and stamps.
Matted in blue, it's sized to fit a standard 8x10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
