On March 8, 2006, the USPS issued two more stamps in its Distinguished American series...one for Dr. Jonas Salk and one for Dr. Albert Sabin. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover with both stamps cancelled from the city of issue (Washington DC) on the first day of issue captioned above. The addition of two older stamps - Child Health issued in 2005 and the stamp celebrating those who contributed to the irradication of Polio issued in 1957 - make this a Combo, an extra special 1st Day Cover.
The cachet (artwork on the envelope) features both Medical Scientist Albert Sabin, developper of an oral vaccine for polio, and Virologist Jonas Salk, who developped the first polio vaccine. It's printed on silk, surrounded by a gold embossed border.
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8x10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
