On January 3, 1984, the USPS issued a stamp commemorating the 25th Anniversary of Alaska Statehood. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the full-color stamp, depicting the majestic mountains of Alaska and a caribou, cancelled from the city of issue (Fairbanks, AK) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope produced by a private company, not the post office) shows a moose, mountains, and a native toem printed on silk. The luster of the silk lends an almost three dimensional quality to the artwork.
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8x10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
