On January 3, 1984, the USPS issued a stamp to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Alaska Statehood. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, in this case a Maximum Card with the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Fairbanks, Alaska) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) encompasses the entire card, hence the term Maximum Card for maximum artwork. The words, "First Day of Issue " are not printed on maximum cards so as not to interfere with the picture. The producer of this cover has written a short commentary about Alaska; we've made a copy for you.
Double matted in blue & white, it will fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included ***
