On May 15, 1968, the USPS issued a stamp to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of US Air Mail Service. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Washington DC) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The black & white cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a plane with the Washington Monument in the background as well as the route of the first Air Mail Service - Washington to Philadelphia to New York. Collectible, historic, this is a great piece of US postal memorabilia.
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
