9/11 HEROES United Flight 931 Shanksville 1st Day Cover HEROES Stamp.....
On June 7, 2002, the USPS issued a stamp
depicting the now famous photograph taken by Thomas E. Franklin of
firefighters William Eisengrein, George Johnson and Daniel McWilliams as
they raised the United States flag at Ground Zero. Shown here is a
genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from one of the cities of issue (New York, NY) on the first day of issue captioned above. The other two cities of issue were Arlington, VA and Shanksville, PA.
The black and white cachet features the American Flag flown at half-mast while onlookers face the field where United Flight 93
went down. On this particular cover, the producer chose not to have
the words "First Day of Issue" printed in the cancellation. Shown above
the cachet are the words "Official First Day of Issue."
Double matted in blue and white, this piece is sized to fit a standard 8x10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
