Five Mesozoic Dinosaurs.... On August 20,1991, the Royal Post of Great Britain issued five stamps for five different Dinosaurs of the Mesozoic Age...Iguanodon, Stegosaurus, Tyrannosaurus, Protoceratops, and Triceratops. Each stamp features the skeleton of each dinosaur and a small silhouette of the fleshed-out being. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with all five stamps cancelled from the city of issue (Edinburgh) on the first day of issue
captioned above. Note the special postmark (skeletal remains under
water) designed for the cancellation of these five stamps on their
"birthday."
The cachet
(artwork on the envelope) features a drawing of dinosaur skeletal
remains embedded in a layer of rock. The company that produced this
cover has also written a brief commentary about dinosaurs from the
Mesozoic as well as the artist Bryan Kneale, whose meticulous drawings
bring these behemoths alive on the stamps and cachet. A copy has been
provided.
Matted in blue, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity plus Commentary Included***
