On August 29, 1991, the USPS issued a set of five stamps to honor COMEDIANS....Jack Benny, Fanny Brice, Abbott & Costello, Laurel & Hardy, and Bergen & McCarthy. The stamps features the artwork of noted cartoonist, Al Hirschfeld. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with all five stampa cancelled from the city of issue (Hollywood, CA) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The black & white cachet (artwork on the envelope) features the 1918 Grauman's Million Dollar Theatre in Los Angeles as well as the mask of comedy.
