On November 1, 1996, the Republic of the Marshall Islands issued a set of stamps commemorating twenty-five Legendary Biplanes Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with five of the twenty-five stamps: the Boeing PW-9, the Douglas O-2, the Huff-Daland LB-5 Pirate, the Chance Vought 02U-1 Corsair, and the Curtiss F8C Helldiver. Cancelled from the city of issue (Majuro) on the first day of issue (captioned above), this is a great piece of aviation, especially Biplane memorabilia. Note the special cancellation designed for this set of stamps.
The cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a cloud background to beautifully highlight the five full-color stamps. Matted in blue, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included as well as a short blurb on each plane***
