Supreme Court and Supreme Court Justices....

On  December 17, 1981, the USPS issued a 20-cents stamp depicting the US Flag with the facade of the Supreme Court in the background.  Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with this stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Washington DC) on the first day of issue captioned above.

The cachet (artwork on the envelope) features the beautiful Corinthian  columns of the facade of the Supreme Court as well as in inset of the Seal of the Supreme Court.  The picture is printed on silk, surrounded by an embossed gold border.

The cover is joined by the full sheet of four stamps honoring 'Justices of the Supreme Court' - Felix Frankfurter, William Brennan, Louis Brandeis, and Joseph Story. In the background of the sheet and also on each stamp is the preamble to the Constitution of the United States.

Matted in blue, this piece is sized to fit a standard 11x14 frame.  ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
