On May 1, 1997, the USPS issued a set of fifteen stamps in a series called The World of Dinosaurs. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with four of the stamps, commemorating the Camptosaurus, the Camarasaurus, the Stegosaurus, and the Allosaurus, cancelled from the city of issue (Grand Junction, CO) on the first day of issue captioned above. Note the special postmark designed for the cancellation of these four stamps on their "birthday."
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features several different dinosaurs, both on land and under water, and is rendered in watercolors.
