20th Century Ltd Orange Blossom Special Postal Cover.... On
September 10, 1998, the USPS issued 15 stamps to represent the decade
of the 1930's in its Celebrate the Century series of 150 stamps. Shown
here is one of the fifteen stamps - this one commemorating Streamline
Design of tear-shaped cars, ocean liners and trains. No other train
personified this design than the New York Central RR's 20th Century Limited. The First Day Postal Cover envelope shows that stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Cleveland, Ohio) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features another Streamliner - the Orange Blossom Special,
which operated between New York City and Miami. The picture is printed
on silk 'framed' by an embossed gold border. The company that produced
this cover has also written a brief commentary about the Streamliners
and the Streamline Design, which we've included.
Double matted in blue and white, this piece will fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity plus Commentary Included***
