On July 19, 1948, the USPS issued a stamp to commemorate the First Woman's Rights Convention held at Seneca Falls, NY on July 19-20, 1848. Featured on the stamp are two women who spearheaded this convention - Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Lucretia Mott. The third woman depicted on the stamp is Carrie Chapman Catt who followed Susan B. Anthony as President of the National American Woman Suffrage Organization and whose efforts led to the ratification of the 19th Amendment. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Seneca Falls, NY) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The black & white cachet (artwork on the envelope) highlights Elizabeth Cady Stanton with the words, "Commemorating 100 years of progress by the women of America." This is one of several collectible, historic pieces of Woman's Rights and American History Memorabilia offered by Wall Art Collectibles.
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
