1st TEDDY BEAR Ideal Toy Corp 1st Day Postal Cover Teddy Bear Stamp.... On February 3, 1998, the USPS issued a set of fifteen stamps to commemorate the first decade of the twentieth century. This set was, in turn, part of a 150 stamp set called Celebrate the Century. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the stamp commemorating the First Teddy Bear in 1902, cancelled from the city of issue (Washington DC) on the first day of issue captioned above. Note the special postmark created to cancel this set of 15 stamps - it identifies this stamp as being from the decade 1900-1909 as well as the larger set to Celebrate the Century - on their 'birthday'.
The black & white cachet (artwork on the envelope) features two teddy bears. We have added two uncancelled stamps featuring the Ideal Teddy Bear from the 2002 set of four stamps commemorating the 100th Anniversary of the Teddy Bear. Any arctophile will love this historic (the first Teddy Bear Stamp produced by the US) matted collectible 1st Day Cover. This cover is particularly prized...most collectors are remiss to split up the 150 set of stamps. Because the Teddy Bear is so collectible, individual covers of this stamp are hard to find.
Double matted in blue & white, this piece is sized to fit a standard 8 X 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
