13th Amendment 1st Day of Issue 1940 Postal Cover....

On October 20, 1940, at the New York World's Fair, the USPS issued a stamp, featuring the Freedom Statue by Thomas Ball, to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the Thirteenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States banishing slavery. Shown here is a genuine FIRST DAY of Issue 1940 Postal COVER, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (World's Fair Station, NY) on the first day of issue captioned above. The fact that this envelope is unaddressed and its age make this a highly desirable piece of Black memorabilia.

The cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a drawing of the Lincoln Memorial with the opening words of the Gettysburg Address.  The second picture shows the back of the envelope with a stamp from the New York World's Fair Post Office Station.

Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame.   ***CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY INCLUDED***
